After-School Tutoring

Raise Your Hand (RYH) is an education initiative to recruit volunteer tutors for students performing below the state standard. Tutors work in the classroom after school helping teachers with 2nd- through 4th-grade students who are struggling with reading and math. Participation is completely free for students and includes free snacks and transportation home.

Volunteering with Raise Your Hand

Volunteering with the RYH tutoring program offers an opportunity to develop a broad range of skills for your resume, plus help a child reading below grade-level. Unlike most jobs, tutoring is extremely flexible and really works around your availability. The satisfaction of knowing you helped students to remove mental barriers and to improve their confidence is priceless. If you are interested in becoming a RYH tutor, click “Become a volunteer!” on this page to visit our Volunteer Interest form and check “Tutoring children” while completing the form.
