Convicted felon arrested for felony drug possession

A convicted felon was taken into custody after Franklin Police found him in possession of more than a pound of marijuana, Saturday. At 9:00 pm on December 2, a Franklin Police Officer stopped 26-year-old James Johnson, of Columbia, after he ran a red light on Mallory Lane at Cool Springs Boulevard. The strong smell of marijuana coming from his car led officers to discover that Johnson was transporting more than a pound of marijuana in a large vacuum sealed bag. Officers seized cash, along with the drugs and drug paraphernalia, from Johnson.

Charged with Manufacture/Deliver/Sale of a Schedule VI Drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, Johnson is free on the $11,500 bond set by the Magistrate. He is due in court on December 14 at 1:00 pm.
