Literary Ladies Book Club

April 17, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Our April book is “A Separate Country” by Robert Hicks. Set in New Orleans in the years after the Civil War, John Bell Hood, arguably one of the most controversial generals of the Confederate Army–and one of its most tragic figures–struggles with his inability to admit his failures until those who taught him to love, and to be loved, transformed him.

Our May book is “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrick Backman. Ove is a curmudgeon who is trying to kill himself, but the neighbors keep getting in the way. We learn about Ove’s life gradually and as the neighbors become slightly less annoying for Ove. He may yet turn out to have a caring bone in his body.

The Literary Ladies Book Group meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Board Room of the Main Library in Franklin, except for January and February. New members are always welcome.
