Mom, child escape after Franklin house fire likely caused by lightning

A mother, her child and two pets were all able to escape a house fire that authorities believe may have been caused by lightning.

It happened at a home on Windcrest Court around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Upon their arrival, crews reported they could see smoke coming from the attic.

The damage is estimated to be around $60,000.
