STUFF THE BUS

Back-to-school costs can be challenging, even for families not already struggling financially – for families that are struggling, they can be crippling.

The annual Stuff the Bus school supply donation drive – led by United Way of Williamson County’s Patricia Hart Society in collaboration with Publix Super Markets, GraceWorks Ministries and dedicated community organizations and churches across Williamson County – eases this financial burden. Supplies donated through Stuff the Bus are given out to students at events timed for just before the new school year.

In 2017, these efforts provided 1,681 backpacks filled with supplies valued at an estimated $95,511 to kids in Williamson County.

We’re gearing up for the Backpack Giveaway events scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 4 by recruiting volunteers to help organize supplies, sort by grade level and stuff the backpacks. We are also recruiting volunteers to help at the Backpack Giveaway events. For more information on the 2018 donation drive, contact Debby Rainey at drainey@uwwc.org or 615-771-2312, ext. 13.
