TBI: Man shot, killed after pulling gun on Williamson County deputies

A man was shot and killed after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says he pulled a gun on deputies who were trying to initiate a stop Tuesday morning.

The TBI said Franklin police began pursuing David Creson, 40, who was driving a stolen car, around 9:30 a.m.
The deputies initiated a pursuit that continued over the Interstate 65 overpass at Peytonsville Road.At some point, Franklin police called off its pursuit and the stolen vehicle was spotted by Williamson County deputies about an hour later near Lewisburg Pike.

Once at the overpass, TBI Director Mark Gwyn said Creson stopped, got out of the car, brandished a weapon and pointed it at deputies.

One of the deputies then fired their weapon, striking the 41-year-old man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Creson has an extensive criminal history.
“Anytime you have an instance like this, there’s people in danger,” Gwyn said. “Fortunately no one else was injured. No one else was shot.”The TBI said neither of the deputies were shot but one did suffer an injury to his leg.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the deputies involved.

Peytonsville Road was closed for several hours and reopened to the public around 5 p.m.
