Officers nab counterfeit check suspect leaving Murfreesboro Road bank

A Nashville man remains in custody following his arrest, Tuesday, after he tried cashing a counterfeit check.

Officers were summoned to the SunTrust Bank on Murfreesboro Road at 3 pm on November 7, after 51-year-old Andre Zakiya of Nashville attempted to pass a counterfeit check made out to him for almost $1,000. Zakiya was working with other suspects in what appears to be a counterfeit check cashing ring. An investigation is underway to identify additional suspects.

Charged with Criminal Simulation, Zakiya remains in custody on the $2,500 bond issued by the Magistrate. He is due in court 11/14/2017 at 1:00 pm.
