No danger detected in Franklin bomb threat

Franklin police investigated a bomb threat near the Factory at Franklin Saturday morning.

Witnesses told News 2 the Farmer’s Market on Franklin Road and Liberty Pike was evacuated around 9:30 a.m.

Franklin police said the threat was faxed into a business at Jamison Street Station, which is located at 320 Liberty Pike.

After careful examination by Franklin emergency responders, no danger was detected and an all-clear was given.

The closure of the Farmer’s Market may have cost vendors as much as $100,000 in lost revenue. COST VENDORS AS MUCH AS 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN LOST BUSINESS.

“Our farmers really counted on this Memorial Day Weekend. Our bakers baked extra, our farmers harvested extra. Our meat vendors were ready to go for all the grilling. So it is really devastating for our farmers, said market director Amy Tavalin.

Tavalin said she is working to find a location where vendors can set up Sunday.

A criminal investigation is now underway by Franklin police.
